Dreams Deffered is a heartbreaking documentary about the murder of Sakia Gunn a 16 year aggressive killed in a hate crime. The documentary focuses less on who killed Sakia and more on why the media ignored such a heartbreaking story. We saw the media barage after Mathew Sheppard was murdered. We heard his story over and over yet a 16 year old African American queer teen is murdered and there is nothing but a whisper. This documentary addresses just that while telling the compelling story of Sakia through the eyes of her family and friends.

As a complete festival QFF may seem like there isn't a cohesive story being told here. I have chosen six movies that seem to have no relative connection besides a basic link to the queer community. But they do. I chose movies that tell stories on the fringe of Queer Culture. For many queer people serving in the military is an outrageous choice yet here is the story of those who serve in the military and are most affected by don't ask don't tell. Don't Ask is a compelling documentary that not only forces us to address why queer people would choose to serve in the military which blatantly doesn't want us but what the affects of Clinton's policy is on that choice.
