Willamette Valley Music Festival Contest - Apply Now!

Each year, The Willamette Valley Music Festival highlights three singer/songwriters.

Applications are available now, deadline: April 17th,2009 @ 2pm. Submit: Full lyrics of two songs

Competition will be on April 25th, 2009 11 am- 5 pm
Buzz Cafe in the EMU.

Contest Rules and Information: The Singer/Songwriter Contest is designed specifically for amateur musicians who have written their own non-recorded music. The Contest culminates in a main stage appearance at the Willamette Valley Music Festival which takes place May 16th. There will be two rounds of competition. The first round will begin at 11 am. All contestants will perform one song. For round two, top contestants will be selected to continue and each will perform a second song. Upon conclusion of the second round, three winners will be selected and will have the opportunity to grace the WVMF main stage.

• The song must be original, acoustic, and must be performed by the songwriter in person.
• Each performer will have approximately five minutes to perform his/her entered song during round one.
• Back-up musicians are permitted; basic amplification (mics) and piano keyboard will be provided.
• Contestants must pre-register for a spot and provide contact information and copies of the song lyrics. Apply early! Performance spots are limited.
• Songs are judged on basis of lyrics, originality of content, uniqueness of presentation, demonstrated proficiency of voice and instrument, and audience response.
